Hey everyone, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2019 RAM 1500, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles. But before we get into that, I just want to go up front and address one of the main questions that a lot of people ask when it comes to setting up a flat tow. That question being, what are gonna be the main components or parts that I'm gonna need to set everything up And there's gonna be a total of five. First one'll be your base plate and that's gonna provide us with an attachment point, allow us to hook our tow bar up to. The purpose of diode wiring is to take the lighting signal from your motorhome and get it back to your taillight safely so that you can let others know what your intentions are on the road. If you think of it kind of as pulling a trailer, this is essentially the same thing. You're just wanting to pull your vehicle, but you have to let others know what you're doing with your taillights on the vehicle that you're pulling behind your RV because chances are they're not gonna be able to see the taillights on your RV. Now when it comes to getting the turn signal safely to the back of your vehicle, there are a couple options out there that you can go with. more

Today, we're going to be taking a look at the best flat tow setup for your 2020 Ram 1500. There's five main components you'll need when flat towing your Ram behind your motor home. You'll need your base plate, which provides the connection point for your tow bar on your Ram. You'll need your tow bar, which is the connection between your motor home and your vehicle, your safety cables, which is the supplemental connection in addition to your tow bar, your diode wiring, which takes all the lighting signals from your motor home, transfers them to your vehicles so they can be seen at the back of the vehicle, so people around you will know your intentions when you're going down the road, and lastly, your supplemental braking system, which will apply the existing brakes on your vehicle when you apply the brakes in your motor home to help to come to a seamlessly smooth stop.Now our customer opted for Demco's base plate, which is a great base plate. It looks great when it's installed, but there's one major flaw with it that I just didn't really like and that's the bracket that it provides with you to mount your wiring. I ended up not using that bracket as it comes off the side and it just looks kind of goofy. more

Today in your 2019 Ram 1500, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Tow Ready's diode wiring kit.Your diode wiring kit is one of five main components you're going to need to flat tow your vehicle behind your motor home. In addition to your diode wiring, you're also going to need your base plate, which is the connection point on your vehicle to connect it to your motor home, your tow bar, which provides a connection between your base plate and your motor home, your safety cables, which is your supplemental connection in addition to your tow bar, and your supplemental braking system, which allows the vehicle's brakes to apply when you hit the brakes in your motor home to help you come to a safe stop.Your diode wiring's going to to take all the lighting signals from your motor home and transfer those back to the lights here at the back of your vehicle. This way people behind you will know your intentions going down the road, keeping you safe, as well as keeping you DOT compliant in all states. It does this by installing diodes behind your tail light assembly, which allows the motor home signals to be tapped into those diodes so the circuitry can extend up here to your light, illuminating it. Also in conjunction with, the Roadmaster 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flex-Coil Kit, part number RM-146-1.Now, this kit will give you all the basic functions needed to tell your Ram behind your motor home. It'll cover your running light circuit, your left turn right turn signal, and your brake signal. On a Ram, here, we actually had a piece of plastic behind the grill right here we could use to attach our six-pull connector to. We are six-pull here. It's only them for four of the circuits, but you can always take it apart, add extra upgraded circuit, like a battery charged circuit or some other indicator lights circuit as well for your braking system.It also comes with the hardware to attach it and also a metal bracket. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 Ram 1500, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Universal High-Power Diode Wiring Kit, part number RM-152.To help us in our installation, we're also going to be using the Roadmaster Four-Wire Connector for the vehicle end, part number RM-910030-1.If you're flat towing your Ram, you're going to need wiring so when you're going down the road, everyone knows whether you're coming to a stop, making a turn, or if it's at night, you can have the taillights on on the back of your car. Now, our diodes are going to allow us to accept the signals from our RV, like the brakes, turn signals, and our taillight signals, and transfer them to our Ram so we can get down the road safely.We're not going to have to worry about mounting exterior lights or running any wires because our diodes are going to hook up directly into our factory lighting system and use our factory lights to illuminate everything. It's also going to protect our vehicle's wiring from any kind of backfeeding that may happen on the motor home end.When we're not flat towing our Ram, our lights on our truck are going to work exactly like normal. We're not going to have to worry about any extra steps of unhooking something or turning something off or on. It's going to be a simple, one-time installation.Keep in mind this is only one component of our flat tow setup. Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit Installation - 2013 Ram 1500- Video

Today on our 2013 Ram 1500 we're going to review and install the Roadmaster taillight ball and socket wiring kit for two bar wiring, part number RM-155. Now here's what our brake light will look like when it's engaged. Next we'll go ahead and show you the passenger side turn signal. Here's what it will look like for the brake light on the driver side. Here's the driver side turn signal. Now to begin our install we need to remove the rear taillights. We'll go ahead and lower the tailgate and locate the two fasteners that secure each taillight. more

Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring Kit Installation - 2013 Ram 1500- Video

Today on our 2013 Ram 1500, we'll be installing the Roadmaster Universal Power Diode Wiring Kit for towed vehicles, part number RM-154. To be and to install, we first go in and put the tailgate down. With our taillight down, we can see the 2 torque fit fasteners that will need to be removed. Once we remove the fasteners, we'll pop the taillight out. Make it a little easier you can get a flat blade screwdriver, but we're going to use a plastic pry tool to get between the taillight and the body, and just work it off. Next we'll need to gain access here to the manufactured wiring for the running light, turn and brake signal circuits. You can try and peel back the tape, or if you must, use a utility knife and cut the tape to gain access to the manufacturer's wiring. If you cut, be careful not to cut the wire underneath. Now once we remove the tape, we can peel the wire loom back and expose the wires. more
